As with our earlier post,
The Traveling Eye Doctor, why not consider the mobile dental hygiene option. I had the opportunity to speak with Marcy Foreman, of The Traveling Tooth Fairy. As with all medical services, the equipment meets the standards and care of OSHA and the Center for Disease Control. Marcy started her business initially with a grant provided by state health insurance, but shortly it will become a self-financed operating business. The grant was given to encourage dental service availability to patients who were not getting care either because of finances or transportation problems.
The Traveling Tooth Fairy visits senior centers on prescheduled dates.
Although appointments are made, sometimes walk-ins are fit in. The
concept of a traveling dental hygiene service was new to Massachusetts in 2010 when regulations changed to permit it. You can see if this service is in your state by checking with your dental licensing board, or doing an internet search for a “public health dental hygienist”.
